Week 10
This week I edited my rough cut of the live action footage. These scenes were very brief to keep within the time limit of the project. I did a rough colour edit in premiere by applying a day for night filter. This was applied to the whole exported video rather than each individual clip just to convey the aesthetic I want to achieve. In future, I will alter each clip to get better colour grading results.
I continued to model in blender as well, creating a clown charcter to act as one of the 'Monsters' in the script. This was scultped to be similar looking to my protagonist charcter with claymation features.
Additionally, I began to build my scenes in Blender. I started with the exterior house scene which will be featured at the start of the short film. I wanted to make it unique in shape whist maintaining the plausibility that it could be made practically as if this was a live action Claymation. I applied a clay texture with realistic fingerprints to suggest that it was moulded by hand. I used simple shapes seen in kids shows too, such as spheres for the green hills which can be seen in multiple forms of kids media (see moodboard). I also modelled and texture simple trees and foliage to add to the scene whilst keeping it simplistic and natural.
